Frequently asked questions

What is the UAE Golden Visa?
The UAE Golden Visa is a long-term residency programme that grants 10-year renewable residency to qualifying investors, entrepreneurs, exceptional talents, scientists, and certain professionals. Unlike a standard UAE employment visa, the Golden Visa is not tied to a single employer and allows holders to live, work, and study in the UAE with full sponsorship rights for family members.
What is the minimum investment to qualify for the UAE Golden Visa?
The most common investment route requires a minimum AED 2 million (approximately £430,000 / €500,000) in UAE real estate — either purchased outright or via a mortgage where the equity portion meets the threshold. Other routes include a AED 2 million business investment, a qualifying public investment fund, or being a senior executive earning AED 30,000+ per month with certain qualifications.
How long does it take to get a UAE Golden Visa?
The process typically takes 4–8 weeks from submitting a complete application, assuming all documents are in order. This includes obtaining a medical fitness certificate, Emirates ID, and the visa stamp. Working with an experienced UAE immigration adviser can significantly reduce errors that cause delays.
Can I get UAE residency without setting up a company?
Yes. The Golden Visa property route does not require company formation. You can also qualify through the Green Visa (for skilled employees or freelancers) or the Remote Work Visa (for employees of foreign companies). A mainland or free zone company is only required if you intend to trade within the UAE.
Can my family join me on a UAE residence visa?
Yes. Most UAE residence visas — including the Golden Visa — allow you to sponsor your spouse, children (up to 18 for sons, unmarried daughters of any age), and parents. The Golden Visa also extends 10-year residency rights to sponsored family members, not just the primary holder.
